Christmas Time in the City

As the sun goes down on the 6th of December, the traffic slows and the town gets ready for the parade. This parade has been a favorite for years, so the excitement flows throughout the Grand Ledge.

Family and friends sit by the fire as they wait for the parade to start. After all the beautiful floats were lined up the parade started at 7:00 pm and lasted about an hour and a half.

The store About the Home, and many other stores are open the night of the parade. Some even had food, hot coco, and activities to get people out of the cold.

Lots of businesses use the Christmas parade as a chance for advertising. PJ’s Towing Company did not only take that opportunity, but they also offered to drive the Grand Ledge basketball teams.

Every year the Grand Ledge Marching Band decorates themselves for the parade. Samantha Filipich, Senior flutist in band, spoke about her experience the past four years. “Even though it’s super cold, and we have to wear a billion layers, it’s worth it to have fun and make music with your friends.”

Grand Ledge decorates the light posts on Bridge St. with snowflakes and poinsettias around the holiday season. Trees and bushes also get decorated all throughout downtown Grand Ledge.
